Happy Year of the Rabbit! To celebrate, please accept the enclosed toy bunny. This bunny represents

who passed away from myxomatosis. This bunny was a beautiful, affectionate and loved member of the family.
Due to high rainfall and an increase in mosquito breeding in 2010/2011 our beloved pet rabbits are dying in extreme high numbers from this fatal introduced disease. There is no cure from this preventable introduced disease intended for wild introduced rabbits.
Our pet rabbits are born & bred as pet rabbits. They do not carry any immunity to myxo, nor are they a threat to the environment. I refuse to lose my beloved members of the family to a disease that was not intended for them.

As you will be aware, the wild rabbit population has a mild immunity against myxo. The disease is not effective anymore to wild rabbits. Vaccinating our pet rabbits will have no implications to the wild population.
The myxo vaccine is available overseas. By allowing the importation of this vaccine, you will be saving the lives of our beloved family members.
Please import or allow the development of the myxo vaccine for our pet rabbits in Australia.

PS - Please think of the environment and recycle this toy bunny by donating it to a charity. Perhaps another heartbroken person who lost their pet bunny to myxo can take comfort with this toy
